Abstract: All known localities of Epaphius rivularis (Gyllenhal, 1810) from the Czech Republic are recorded and mapped. Geographical and vertical distribution, habitat preferences, seasonal activity and population dynamics of this species in the climatic conditions of the Czech Republic are rated on the basis of literature records and available material.

Abstract: The genus Stenidius LaFerté-Sénectère, 1847 is redescribed with 17 recognized species. Three new species, S. dolosus sp. n. (Nepal, India: Uttaranchal), S. glabratus sp. n. (Nepal) and S. finicola sp. n. (Pakistan, India: Kashmir), are described. Four new combinations are proposed: S. aulicus (LaFerté-Sénectère, 1849) comb. n. and S. signatus (Pic, 1922), comb. n. from Formicomus LaFerté-Sénectère, 1849, S. curtulus (Krekich-Strassoldo, 1928) comb. n. and S. luteonotatus (Pic, 1909), comb. n. from Anthelephilus LaFerté-Sénectère, 1849. Four species originally described in the subgenus Stenidius of Anthicus Paykull, 1789 are returned to Anthicus: A. longitarsis Pic, 1894, A. magniceps Pic, 1902, A. stenomorphus Champion, 1895 and A. takaosus Pic, 1913. Stenidius aulicus, S. curtulus, S. luteonotatus and S. signatus are redescribed and the lectotype of S. curtulus is designated. Check-list of Stenidius species is provided.

Abstract: Records on distribution of 28 species of Silphidae (based on 865 specimens) from Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and north-western India (Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh states) are presented. First state distributional records for the following species are provided: Necrodes littoralis (Linnaeus, 1758) (India: Uttar Pradesh), Nicrophorus antennatus (Reitter, 1884) (Afghanistan), Silpha obscura Linnaeus, 1758 (India: Himachal Pradesh; south-easternmost known occurrence of this species in Asia), Thanatophilus dentigerus (Semenov, 1891) (Pakistan, India: Uttar Pradesh), T. ferrugatus (Solsky, 1874) (Iran) and T. porrectus (Semenov, 1891) (Afghanistan, Pakistan). First reliable records (only old, unprecise records from the territory were available) concern the following species: Aclypea turkestanica (Ballion, 1871) (Iran), Necrodes nigricornis Harold, 1875 (India: Uttar Pradesh) and Thanatophilus minutus Kraatz, 1876 (India: Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh). Finally, the second precise record of Aclypea cicatricosa Reitter, 1884 from Iran is given.

Abstract: Records of 52 species of Silphidae, collected mostly by Czech and German entomologists in China during 1990-2002, are presented. First distributional records from China are provided for Aclypea turkestanica (Ballion, 1871), Nicrophorus humator (Gleditsch, 1767), N. reichardti Kieseritzky, 1930, N. satanas Reitter, 1893, N. sepultor Charpentier, 1825 (all from Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), and Diamesus osculans (Vigors, 1825) (from Chongqing municipality). Furthermore, Nicrophorus vestigator Herschel, 1807 is removed from the list of Chinese fauna, as the record of Růžička & Schneider (1996) was based on a misidentified specimen of N. dauricus.
