Abstract: Data on the occurrence of Panorpa scorpionflies in Moravia and the Czech part of
Silesia are summarized. Six species of Panorpa Linnaeus, 1758 occur in this
territory as well as in the whole Czech Republic. Panorpa vulgaris Imhoff et
Labram, 1836, P. communis Linnaeus, 1758 and P. germanica Linnaeus, 1758 are
the most common species. P. alpina Rambur, 1842 prefers higher altitudes but it
may also reach large population sizes in lowlands. P. cognata Rambur, 1842 and
P. hybrida McLachlan, 1882 are recorded only sporadically and usually at lower
altitudes.
