Abstract: Seventeen new species and two new subspecies of the genus Trechus Clairville, 1806 are described from southern Kyrghyzstan: Trechus usgentensis sp. n. (the SE part of the Ferghana Mountain Range) from the T terskeiensis Belousov et Kabak, 1991 species group; T isfanensis sp. n., T. latiplatus sp. n., T gushensis sp. n., T orthapicalis sp. n., T sogdianus sp. n. (all from the eastern part of the Turkestan Mountain Range); T shivalensis sp. n., T fidvatilis sp. n., T shaid sp. n., T robustapicalis sp. n., T avgolensis sp. n., T. kulpensis sp. n., T curvatilis sp. n., T topaz sp. n., T stictulus sp. n., T margelanicus sp. n., T margelanicus obliquulus ssp. n., T margelanicus spiniplatus ssp. n. (all from the western part of the Alai Mountain Range) and T irkeshtamicus sp. n. (= T arrisi sensu Belousov & Kabak 1996, non Jeannel 1962) from the Alai valley, all belonging to the T adustus Jeannel, 1962 species group. T arrisi Jeannel, 1962 is synonimized with T jugivagus Lutshnik, 1930.

Abstract: Notes on the distribution of 67 species of the family Nepticulidae in the surroundings of the town of Děčín (northern Bohemia) are presented. Bionomics and ecology of most species are briefly commented. The results of the present study are compared to the data published in 1930-1940s by F. Zimmermann.

Abstract: Seven new species of the genus Oedichirus Erichson, 1839 from Madagascar (O. balarombe sp. n., O. betsileo sp. n., O. bonibona sp.n., O. haribe sp. n., O. inahasoa sp. n., O. mafana sp. n. and O. moraveci sp. n.) are described, illustrated and compared with closely related species. New data on distribution and variability of five other species of the genus are presented.

Abstract: Collections of dragonflies from several Czech museums were studied by the author. The record of Aeshna viridis Eversmann, 1836 from the Czech Republic is shown to be based on a wrong determination of a specimen of Aeshna cyanea (O. F. Müller, 1764). A list of 12 species of Aeshnidae known to occur in the Czech Republic is included.

Abstract: A list of records of the skipper Carterocephalus silvicolus (Meigen, 1829) from the Czech and Slovak Republics is given. Altogether 17 specimens are registered - 3 from Bohemia, 6 from Moravia and 8 from Slovakia. The nearest localities from southern Poland are mentioned, and the possibility of the autochthone presence of C. silvicolus in the Czech and Slovak Republics is discussed.

Abstract: The ground-beetle Carabus (Carabus) menetriesi menetriesi Faldermann, 1827 is newly reported from Slovakia (Flajšová, square 6680, 20.vii.1996). The specimen represents the second reliable record of this species from Slovakia after more than 50 years. The distribution of the nominotypical subspecies is reviewed, and the bionomics is briefly discussed.

Abstract: Faunistic records of 251 rare or little known species of the family Carabidae from Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia obtained from 44 private collections are presented. Three species are recorded for the first time from Moravia: Dyschirius benedikti Bulirsch, 1995; Acupalpus dubius Schilsky, 1888 and Harpalus cupreus fastuosus Faldermann, 1835. Parophonus hirsutulus (Dejean, 1829) and Agonum hypocrita (Apfelbeck, 1904) are recorded as new for Slovakia. Gynandrotnorphus etruscus (Quensel, 1806) is treated as an introduced and not acclimatized species for Bohemia.
