Abstract: The rare stonefly Perla grandis Rambur, 1842 was recorded in several montane streams in the Hercynian mountain system and in the Carpathians in the 20th century. Now it is classified as endangered in the Red List of invertebrates of the Czech Republic due to the scarcity of recent records. The aim of this study is to examine its status at the localities where it was recorded in the first half of the 20th century and summarize all available data on its distribution in the Czech Republic. We found a considerable decline of the species in the Labe River basin as it was not re-collected at the localities of historic occurrence in the Krkonoše Mts., Orlické hory Mts. and Šumava Mts. and was not recorded at any new locality. This disappearance was probably a result of acidification of freshwater habitats in these regions in the second half of the 20th century. At present, Perla grandis is only frequent and locally abundant in montane streams in the Beskydy and Jeseníky Mts. which were not so severely affected by acidification. It inhabits mostly epirhitral sections of streams, but it can occur even in sections on the boundary between epirhitral and hypocrenal. It was found at elevations from 520 to 820 m a.s.l. It prefers fast flowing streams with a stable circum-neutral pH and substratum dominated by stones and boulders (lithal).

Abstract: The first two confirmed records of Metapterus caspicus Dohrn, 1863 from Greece are presented. The possibility of the occurrence of the related M. linearis A. Costa, 1862 in Greece is discussed, but, due to the lack of voucher specimens it should be excluded from the Greek fauna for the time being.

Abstract: The Philonthus circumcinctus species group, containing 16 species of the genus Philonthus Stephens, 1829 is redefined and revised. Two species are described as new: Philonthus mehelya sp. nov. (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and P. zosterops sp. nov. (Kenya). Fourteen species are redescribed: P. bonus Tottenham, 1962, P. cailleuxi Levasseur, 1980, P. circumcinctus Eppelsheim, 1895, P. clementi Levasseur, 1962, P. complicatus Tottenham, 1961, P. densecaudatus Bernhauer, 1928, P. densicauda Bernhauer, 1943, P. facialis Tottenham, 1962, P. fraxinatus Tottenham, 1949, P. mlogosiensis Bernhauer, 1934, P. rollei Bernhauer, 1943, P. rubricatus Tottenham, 1962, P. staudingeri, Bernhauer, 1928. P. marginellus Schubert 1902, stat. restit. is removed from synonymy with P. xanthoraphis Eppelsheim, 1895. An identification key to all species of the species group is provided; the aedeagi of most species and relevant morphological characters are figured.

Abstract: In 2009, the arachnofauna of Louky pod Kumstátem Nature Reserve was studied. Spiders were collected between 18.iv.2009 and 25.x.2009 using pitfall traps. Land snail shells were collected in the winter of 2009-2010 to find hibernating spiders. In total 675 individuals (550 adult spiders) were collected, and identified as 69 species of 17 families. Six endangered species listed on the Red List of Invertebrates of the Czech Republic were recorded. These included the wolf spider Alopecosa solitaria (Herman, 1879) and the thermophilic crab spiders Ozyptila pullata (Thorell, 1875) and O. simplex (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1862). The endangered Euryopis quinqueguttata Thorell, 1875 and Myrmarachne formicaria (De Geer, 1778) were only collected from land snail shells. The critically endangered Dysdera hungarica Kulczyński, 1897 was probably the most important discovery, known only from the warmest locations of South Moravia.

Abstract: A total of 520 species of 57 families were recorded during a survey of beetles (Coleoptera) in the Vrapač National Nature Reserve in 2009. Two of them are protected by law in the Czech Republic – Carabus scheidleri Panzer, 1799 (Carabidae) and Oxythyrea funesta (Poda, 1761) (Scarabaeidae) and a further 42 are included on the Red list of threatened species of the Czech Republic. The following critically endangered species were recorded: Micropeplus longipennis Kraatz, 1859 (Staphylinidae), Symbiotes latus Redtenbacher, 1849 (Endomychidae) and Agnathus decoratus (Germar, 1818) (Pyrochroidae).

Abstract: The first records of the longhorn beetle Stenurella sennii Sama, 2002 (Cerambycidae) from the Czech Republic and Croatia are presented. S. sennii was recently distinguished from its sibling species of S. melanura (Linnaeus, 1758) and had previously been confused with that species in the Czech Republic and Croatia.

Abstract: Records of eight species of carrion beetles from India are presented. Nicrophorus melissae Sikes et Madge, 2006, N. trumboi Sikes et Madge, 2006 and Thanatophilus porrectus (Semenov, 1890) are reported from India for the first time. Nicrophorus nepalensis Hope, 1831 is reported from India: Arunachal Pradesh for the first time. Distribution of N. nepalensis and Thanatophilus minutus Kraatz, 1876 in India is summarized and mapped. Additional recent records of Nicrophorus encaustus Fairmaire, 1896 from Jammu and Kashmir and Thanatophilus dentiger (Semenov, 1890) from Uttarakhand are provided. A necrophagous association of Necrophila (Deutosilpha) rufithorax (Wiedemann, 1823) with carrion of Semnopithecus entellus (Dufresne, 1797) (Primates: Cercopithecidae) is reported.

Abstract: Faunistic data for pseudoscorpions from the protected landscape area (PLA) of the Třeboň region and the surrounding area is presented. A total of 720 specimens of pseudoscorpions were collected in this area between 1993 and 2011. This material includes 15 species in the Třeboňsko PLA and 16 species from the adjacent areas (20 species from 6 families in total). New localities for the rare species Chernes nigrimanus Ellingsen, 1897, Larca lata (Hansen, 1884) and Mesochelifer ressli Mahnert, 1981 were found during this study. Additionally, a new locality for Anthrenochernes stellae Lohmander, 1939, a species protected within the EU-wide network of nature protection areas Natura 2000, was discovered. The number of pseudoscorpion species in the Třeboňsko PLA and the adjacent area is comparable to other regions studied in the Czech Republic.

Abstract: Cylindromorphus bohemicus Obenberger, 1933 is an endemic jewel beetle to the Czech Republic, listed on the Czech Red List of endangered invertebrates as critically endangered. Recently, it has been found only in north-eastern Bohemia (Žatec district), although until the 1970s it was also collected in two localities in central Bohemia – Praha-Troja (type locality) and Sedlecké skály Nature Monument. In this paper, the recent occurrence of this species in central Bohemia is confirmed by a new record from Roztocký háj – Tiché údolí Nature Reserve (Roztoky u Prahy). This new locality is a former pasture with sparse grassland dominated by fescue grasses (Festuca spp.), and seriously threatened by shrub and tree encroachment.
