Abstract: Otiorhynchus torulensis sp. n. belonging to the subgenus Tecutinus Reitter, 1912 is described from northeastern Turkey from the Kara Dag mountains (a part of the Giresuni Daglari mountains). The new species is illustrated and compared with related species Otiorhynchus (Tecutinus) ikisderensis Smreczynski, 1970, O. (T.) crinitellus K. Daniel, 1902, O. (T.) escherichi Reitter, 1898 and O. (T.) paracrinitellus Braun, 1989.

Abstract: The distribution of the cricket Myrmecophilus acervorum (Panzer, 1799) in Moravia and Silesia (Czech Republic) is reviewed in this paper. The species is recorded from 91 localities belonging to 60 squares of the faunistic grid mapping. Some aspects of its biology and habitat preferences are discussed.

Abstract: Three new species of the genus Chrysobothris Eschscholtz, 1829 (subgenus Abothris Semenov el Rikhter, 1934) are described and illustrated from the western part of the Palaearctic region: C. (A.) bicolorata sp. n. (Iran), C. (A.) bumburetica sp. n. (Pakistan) and C. (A.) yemenensis sp. n. (Yemen). All described species are compared with the related species and all Western Palaearctic species of the subgenus Abothris are keyed together with a brief characteristic of the subgenus.

Abstract: Faunistic records of 21 species of the leaf beetle subfamily Alticinae from Bohemia, Moravia, Slovakia and Hungary are given. Aphthona flaviceps Allard, 1859; Longitarsus brisouti Heikertinger, 1912; L. celticus Leonard!, 1975; L. helvolus Kutschera, 1863; Ljuncicola (Foudras, 1860); L. nimrodi Furth, 1979; L. tristis Weise, 1888 and Neocrepidodera crassicornis (Faldermann, 1837) are new for Slovakia. Aphthona aeneomicans Allard, 1875 is new for Hungary. Psylliodes brisouti Bedel, 1898 and P. thlaspis Foudras, 1860 are new for Moravia.

Abstract: A record of very rare blister beetle species Apalus bimaculatus (Linnaeus, 1761) from eastern Slovakia is given. Two males and nine females were found at a steppe limestone locality at Ladmovce (grid mapping square code 7596) in March 27-28, 1999. Beetles were observed in flight and/or feeding on pullulant grass leaves in a sunny, warm weather between 10.30 and 14.00 h. The following species of Meloidae were also found at the locality: Meloe proscarabaeus Linnaeus, 1758, M. violaceus Marsham, 1802, M. cicatricosus Leach, 1811, M. decorus Brandt, 1832, and M. rugosus Marsham, 1802. Data on the findings of Apalus bimaculatus in Slovakia in 1990’s (Štúrovo - code 8278, and Kiarov - code 7882) are reviewed.

Abstract: Grasshopper and cricket communities in the central part of the Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts. and in the associations with domination of Nardus stricta (Poaceae) were studied. The habitat preferences, population density and migration ability are discussed. All published and new data about the occurrence of the Chorthippus pullus (Philippi, 1830) and Chorthippus vagans (Eversmann, 1848) in the Czech Republic as well as the occurrence of Psophus stridulus (Linnaeus, 1758) in north-eastern Moravia are summarised.

Abstract: A catalogue of the dragonfly collection of the Museum Beskyd Frýdek-Místek (= the Museum of the Beskydy Mts., Frýdek-Místek city) is provided. The material was collected mainly in the north-eastern Moravia and Silesia (Czech Republic) during the years 1963-1996. The collection presently contains 578 adults and 132 larvae of 37 species.

Abstract: Historical and recent distribution of the Clouded Apollo, Parnassius mnemosyne (Linnaeus, 1758) in North Moravia is reviewed and evaluated. Altogether 87 localities are recorded on the basis of field research, revisions of collection material and literature records. The butterfly has disappeared from many areas of its former occurrence. Thus, only 16 localities may be considered as recent (the species occurred there after 1990). Among them, localities in the Litovelské Pomoravi Protected Landscape Area, the Javorníky Mountains and stream valleys in the western and southern foothills of the Nízký Jeseník Mountains still host abundant and viable populations. Four time periods are distinguished (until 1900, 1900-1950, 1951-1990, after 1990); the highest rate of population extinctions (42 localities) was occurred the period 1951-1990. The most common cause of population extinction are changes in forest management (coniferisation and replacement of coppicing and selectively harvested woods by mature forest). Proposal for conservation via altered forest management of inhabited sites is based on a metapopulation model.

Abstract: Results of faunistic research of the family Chrysididae are presented from the Devínská Kobyla State Nature Reserve (square codes of faunistic grid mapping 7867 and 7868) in southwestern Slovakia. Chrysis pseudobrevitarsis Linsenmaier, 1951 and Pseudospinolia uniformis (Dahlbom, 1854) are reported as new for Slovakia. First exact data on the occurrence of Hedychridium valesiense Linsenmaier, 1959, Chrysis analis Spinola, 1808, C. angustula Schenck, 1856, C. bicolor Lepeletier, 1806, C. tnediaia Linsenmaier, 1951 and C. rutiliventris Abeille de Perrin, 1879 in Slovakia are given.

Abstract: Faunistic investigation of aquatic Coleoptera in the Danube delta was carried out, based on the survey of available literature and authors’ collection data. Altogether 95 species of water beetles is recorded from the area. Along the salinity gradient, typical inhabitants of fresh water habitats in the river delta are slowly replaced by the assemblages of halophilous and halobiont species in the fluvio-marine delta and in the coastal habitats. Species with a wide distributional range in the north-western part of the Palaearctic are prevalent; species with a restricted distribution, such as Ponto-Pannonic or Pontic elements, are also represented. No true endemics are present due to the recent geological origin of the area. The most remarkable record is Agabus zimmermanni Scholz, 1920 - a new species for Romania. The importance of this territory for the survival of many rare plants and animals is emphasized and some endangering factors are pointed out.
