Abstract: We present results of the faunistic research of 12 families of Lepidoptera (Pyralidae: Crambinae, Zygaenidae, Hesperiidae, Papilionidae, Pieridae, Nymphalidae, Satyridae, Riodinidae, Lycaenidae, Geometridae, Sphingidae and Arctiidae) made in 1985 - 1992 at 66 localities of Prague area (including 48 protected nature areas). We recorded 383 species of Lepidoptera. The abundance of Papilio machaon L. and Iphiclides podalirius (L.) at the study area increased recently and Ponlia daplidice (L.) and Hyles euphorbiae (L.) were sampled for the first time after 20 years, in Prague.

Abstract: The description of the first and second instar larva Sepedophilus bipustulatus (Gravenhorst, 1802) is presented. Larvae were cultivated from imagines on the original substrate in the laboratory. Larvae are mycetophagous. Morphological characters found here are confronted with description of sole known larva of the genus Sepedophilus [S. testaceus (Fabricius, 1792)].

Abstract: The annotated list of 229 species of staphylinid beetles found on the area of Prague annotated is presented. The most intensive research was made in the north of Prague. The beetles were collected at irregular intervals and with various methods (sifting, pitfall traps etc.). Number of species reveals a high diversity of Prague nature. Tachyporus dispar is a new species for the Czech Republic.

Abstract: Miltotrogus nocturnus Nonveiller, 1958 is recorded for the first time from Slovakia. The data on distribution of this species especially in central Europe are summarized. Differences were not found in the time of flying activity between the populations from the type locality (Zemun nr. Beograd) and the locality Čejč (southern Moravia).

Abstract: Thirty one specimens of Leichenum pictum (Fabricius, 1801) have been found on a forest sand dune on Dunaj river alluvions near Čenkov (square No. 8277 of faunistic map grid - see Zelený 1972) in 1987-1993. A small population which survives at this locality is not immediately endangered by construction of Gabčíkovo water barrier.

Abstract: Distributional data of 14 species of Choleva from Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia are presented. The species C. agilis, C. sturmi, C. oblonga oblonga, C. cisteloides and C. glauca are widely distributed and only the locality records are given. The rest of the species is less abundant and complete data are presented. All records are followed with the grid mapping codes, the maps of distribution for all species are figured. The sampling methods are briefly discussed: the beetles are usually taken individually in tunnels and nests of small mammals or trapped with baited pitfail traps in caves and rock debrises. The species have different patterns of seasonal abundance.

Abstract: The findigs of five species of Chrysomelidae s.lat. and nine species of Curculionidae s.lat., faunistically remarkable, are mentioned with notes on their biology. The author discuss the problematic nature of Coptocephala rubicunda (Laicharting, 1781) and C. scopolina (Linnaeus, 1767) determination in view of the present non-accessibility of C. rubicunda rossica Medvedev, 1990 material.

Abstract: New faunistic data on 55 scarabaeoid (Coleoptera) species from the former Czechoslovakia are presented. The data were obtained from 58 private and museum collections. Details on biology and habitats of some species are mentioned. A supplement of the Check list of Czechoslovak Scarabaeoidea including changes in regional occurrence of 14 species is added.

Abstract: Meloe decorus Brandt et Erichson, 1832, a very rare species in Bohemia, is recorded from the surroundings of Kolín (Polabská nížina lowlands, central Bohemia). The observations on its bionomy (mating, oviposition, approximate number of eggs laid per female, duration of the egg development etc.) and the author's rearing method are described.
